"I have never done " is the present perfect tense. Note "present" tense. "I never did " is the past tense. Technically, he's talking "present" tense when it is a past event. This would be a past tense denial, "I didn't assault the accuser." Poor denial = allegation is alive. #AuthorJoeKoenig
