Walt Reca is DB Cooper - Follow the Evidence.
Thanks, Mike. Great question. To my knowledge, there is nothing new on the Hoffa case. Remember, though, I retired from MSP in 1993. The cases are very different. Both were massive and complex cases. I was assigned as lead investigator the day after Hoffa was reported missing, so there were exigent circumstances. I worked the Cooper case as a cold case, with few time pressures and no exigency. Both were and are very difficult. I'm convinced Walt Reca is D.B. Cooper based on Walt's confession, a very credible eye witness, independent and verified corroboration of Walt's confession, my analysis of the taped confession/statements recorded by the very credible and late Carl Laurin, and all the circumstantial evidence. Finally, several former prosecutors, like the one I posted from the late and famous L. Brooks Patterson, reviewed my case facts and concluded they would have indicted Walt as D.B. Cooper. Joe Koenig
“Joe Koenig’s meticulous assessment of the case against or for Walt Reca as D.B. Cooper is objective, deep and highly persuasive. It should be a model for writers of critical analyses of other cases yet to be offered of other mysteries. Precious few of the tens of thousands of police reports I have reviewed as federal and state prosecutor match this work.”
—John Smietanka, Former US Attorney and Principal Associate Deputy US Attorney General
“Unequivocally, Joe Koenig provides a powerful case that Walt Reca is D.B. Cooper. Koenig’s well-reasoned analysis makes a very strong case that any prosecutor would consider. Joe Koenig’s objective analysis leaves little doubt that Walt Reca is D.B. Cooper.”
